GLASS FUSING WORKSHOPS, PANGUR GLASS STUDIO, CAVAN

Pangur Glass Studio will host two October Sunday workshops for a comprehensive introduction to glass fusing. Learn to make pendants and broaches, learn about frit and cast a 4" square coaster in reusable moulds using glass dams, and fuse and slump a small free-standing picture using stainless steel moulds. Learn about the different firing temperatures and all the glass accessories used with sheet glass in System 96 products. See how affordable it is to have your own table top kiln and start producing beautiful fused glass products.

Course fee is €80 inclusive of all materials used and lunch on the day. The one-day courses will run on 16th October and 23rd October 2011.

NATURAL 3, LEITRIM DESIGN HOUSE

Leitrim Design House is very pleased to present three collections of innovative glass art in Natural 3. The exhibiting artists are three local artists of international accolade; Louise Rice, Caroline Madden and Naomi Draper. The work of these artists in this exhibition evokes thought through the themes of nature, place and the human condition. Natural 3 will open at 7pm on 20th October 2011 at Leitrim Design House.

ART IN CRAFT MEDIA 2011 FEATURING KAREN DONNELLAN, BUFFALO, NY

Birchfield Penney Arts Centre, Buffalo, New York will host a contemporary exhibition of more than sixty fine artists of the region working with glass, wood, fiber, clay and metal. The exhibition features work by Karen Donnellan and was juried this year by John McCoy, potter and faculty member at Florida Atlanic University. The exhibition will open at 7:30pm on Saturday 15th October 2011.

WHEATON ARTS 2012 FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Wheaton Arts and the Creative Glass Centre of America are currently accepting applications for their 2012 Fellowship Program. These are offered each year to international artists working in glass. Fellowships are awarded for three month and also six week durations.

THE GOLDEN FLEECE AWARD – CALL FOR 2012 SUBMISSIONS

The Golden Fleece Award is an artistic fund established as a charitable bequest by the late Helen Lillias Mitchell. The Award aims to support and promote a wide range of artistic creativity, recognising excellence in painting, textiles and sculpture, glasswork, and all the traditional crafts. It was launched in 2001 and is now widely recognised as a distinctive stamp of creative support in the realm of Irish art.

The deadline for submissions is 18th November 2011 and entry forms are available online.
