ART TEACHING OPPORTUNITY IN GERMAN SUMMER SCHOOL, SUMMER 2013

Dr. Markwart Herzog, director of the Schwaben Academy in Bavaria, is currently searching for a recognised artist/educator to teach in an 8-day summer school in Bavaria in early August 2013 (or subsequent years). They are looking for an established artist, with a recognised practice and good teaching experience.

The summer school is an annual event and involves classes in various arts disciplines including literature, dance and music as well visual art. The visual art school comprises students who already have an art practice (i.e. not beginners). Participants apply for selection and the artist-teacher directs the selection process. Typically 10 to 12 students participate. The school is a residential one in a refurbished old monastery. While the working language of the school is German, and some rudimentary knowledge of German would be an advantage, the school regularly takes in artists from UK, US and other Anglophone countries as teachers. Their classes are conducted in English.

Students work to the brief of the tutor and an end-of-school exhibition is set up. Also, for the duration of the school, an exhibition of some of the work of the visiting artist is mounted. Previous artists have worked in the field of painting, drawing and etching and these are the domains that are sought.

The programme for 2012 is already well established and work is now commenced on planning the 2013 programme. Travel to and from Germany is covered, accommodation is provided in the conference hotel and a fee of €2,000 is paid for professional duties. For further information please contact Dr. Markwart Herzog.
