The RDS National Crafts Competition in its present form has been held annually since 1968 to promote Irish craft and design. Growing in stature each year, it is the major Irish crafts industry competition, allowing both professional and amateur craft designers to exhibit and promote their work. Since 2008 the RDS National Crafts Competition is organised in association with the Crafts Council of Ireland
With categories such as ceramics, glass, furniture and textiles, the Competition is a unique opportunity for craft workers and designers to have their work appraised by an independent jury of experts and to compete for prestigious awards and prizes. There are 20 categories in total with a prize fund in excess of €28,000.
Closing date for designer-maker applications is 17th May 2010 at 5pm, applications are accepted online here: www.rds.ie/crafts
