These workshops will teach various approaches to creating multi-layer surface designs on fabrics using different printing techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to combine their own graphics and photographic images with cloth to create highly individual fabrics. The resulting fabric can be a finished artefact or the basis for embroidery or other embellishments .
Multiple processes, combining different types of fabrics and papers will be used, including, Photo Transfers – using photocopies, acrylic medium, silkscreens, thermofax screens, rollers and brushes.
Transfer Paints – designs monoprinted or painted onto paper then ironed onto fabric to create the design. Water Soluble crayons – used with rubbing plates [e.g. involving card, string, pva] silk screens and acrylic medium.
All specialised equipment will be provided.
