BRING ON THE NEW 2010 - MAKERS WORKING WITH MAKERS IN THE UK: CALL

Applications are welcome for 8 collaborative partnerships from:

* Glass makers/designers and educators running businesses in the West Midlands
* Cohesion members living & working in Tyne & Wear
* Glass makers living and working in Europe (EU) countries – Sweden, Greece, France, Czech Republic, Germany etc and the USA.

Working in collaboration with a glass business based within the West Midlands, glassmakers from the North East branch of Cohesion, along with makers living and working in Europe (EU) including Germany, Sweden, Greece, France, Czech Republic etc and Corning in the USA are invited to work on a collaborative piece, where emphasis will be on the creation of uniquely, individual forms for ‘Life Style and Interior Living.’ For example: inventive structures which enhance outdoor living, à la mode lighting, distinctive furniture, ingenious approaches to designing tableware etc.

As part of the project the Red House Glass Cone have made available their blowing and kiln facilities to accommodate the creative sparks of collaborative working. Although not compulsory, the residencies are free to collaborative partners and are available from Easter onwards, with each residency running across five days. Glass Collaborations hope to make available a number of small awards to support overseas visits between West Midlands makers working in collaboration with a German partner. Works produced during these collaborations (including examples of the artists own work) will be showcased at the Red House Glass Cone during the International Festival of Glass 2010. Exhibition Dates: 1st July to 26th September 2010

Cost of application: £35 made payable to the Dudley MBC. (Cheques will be returned to unsuccessful applicants.) Deadline for applications is the 1st February, and application forms can be downloaded from:
