THE JUTTA CUNY-FRANZ MEMORIAL AWARD 2011: CALL



Anyone under 40 can submit an artwork made predominantly using glass for this award. An overall winner will receive €10,000, with two other smaller cash prizes for runners up. The deadline for applying is the 15th October 2010.

THREE X 3: ANDREA SPENCER, SCOTT BENEFIELD AND SEAN CAMPBELL, SIGNAL ARTS CENTRE, 5TH - 14TH MARCH


Opening on Friday 5th March at 7pm, three x 3 is an exhibition of work by glass artists Andrea Spencer, Scott Benefield and Sean Campbell. The show runs in the Signal Arts Centre, Bray, Co. GLASS BEAD WEEKEND WORKSHOP, E.O.M. STUDIOS

Learn to make glass beads at the E.O.M studios in Mulranny, Co Mayo on a 2-day weekend workshop which will take place from 10am to 4pm on 9 to 11 April 2010. Residential and non-residential places available. Make glass beads with a torch by preparing the mandrels around which the molten glass is wound and shaping the glass for round, tabular, barrel or bi-cone beads, pull stringers (thin rods for decorating) to make dots and lines, which can be manipulated into all kinds of patterns and designs on the surface of your bead.

DESIGN A JUMP FOR THE RDS

The Royal Dublin Society Equestrian Committee and Committee of Arts have come together to launch an open call for submissions for the design of a feature jump for the 2010 Dublin Horse Show. This jump may be featured in the RDS Main Arena during International competitions such as the Nations’ Cup for the Aga Khan trophy, International Grand Prix and various other International competitions. The winning design will also receive a prize of €500 and a feature in the RDS International Programme for the 2010 Dublin Horse Show.

This is a unique opportunity for artists and craft people in Ireland to showcase their designs and skills at one of Ireland’s biggest sporting and cultural events. The feature jump should incorporate some aspect of Irish life, culture, landscape or other related theme.
