CRAFT NI: CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Craft NI is inviting new volunteers to get involved with craft activities through our Volunteer Programme.

Volunteering opportunities are available across a range of activities including:

gallery supervision
assisting at events including exhibitions, seminar and workshops
distributing information on our work & activities at craft events
Opportunities to volunteer are available on an ongoing basis throughout the year and particularly during July and August, in the run up August Craft Month - Northern Ireland’s annual celebration of craft.

PER CENT FOR ART SCHEME: SCHOOL COMMISSION

The Per Cent for Art Committee of St. Brigid's Girls National School wishes to commission a piece of visual art work for our school community.

The intention of this project is to commission a 2-D or 3-D one piece of site-specific visual artwork for the school. The concept is for an imaginative, child-friendly, timeless piece sensitive to the particulars of site, and context.

The commission sum is for €15,000 and is to cover all fees, material costs, installation, insurances and expenses for the entire project.

The grant will be paid in three equal installments:-
1. When the commission has been awarded
2. Mid-way through the project
3. Upon completion of the project

THE SCHEDULE:

Site visit: Friday: 26 February 2010
Submission of Proposals: 19 March 2010
Meeting of selection panel by 22 March 2010
Commission awarded by 29 March 2010
Aim to have work installed by September 2010

ORIGIN 2010: NEW VENUE AND CALL

INSPIRED BY...V&A ANNUAL ART COMPETITION: CALL

Inspired by... is an annual art competition for students on part-time art and craft courses. Deadline for applications to be part of an exhibition at either the V&A or the Museum of Childhood is the 4th May 2010. For more information, visit:

THE JUTTA CUNY-FRANZ MEMORIAL AWARD 2011: CALL



Anyone under 40 can submit an artwork made predominantly using glass for this award. An overall winner will receive €10,000, with two other smaller cash prizes for runners up. The deadline for applying is the 15th October 2010.

THREE X 3: ANDREA SPENCER, SCOTT BENEFIELD AND SEAN CAMPBELL, SIGNAL ARTS CENTRE, 5TH - 14TH MARCH


Opening on Friday 5th March at 7pm, three x 3 is an exhibition of work by glass artists Andrea Spencer, Scott Benefield and Sean Campbell. The show runs in the Signal Arts Centre, Bray, Co.
