SUZANNAH VAUGHAN: TRACING FORM, FLASHPOINT GALLERY, DC

Flashpoint resident organization Solas Nua, the only organization dedicated exclusively to contemporary Irish art in the United States, will present their second exhibition in conjunction with Flashpoint Gallery. In Tracing Form, Irish artist Suzannah Vaughan will combine glass and concrete sculptures with a string installation. Informed by linear perspective and architectural drawings, the luminous installation will be suspended across the gallery space to create a three-dimensional drawing.

DISSOLVE, COMPOSE, RELEASE: A HOT GLASS PERFORMANCE, RIT, NY
Irish glass artist Karen Donnellan, along with artist Mary Catherine Richardson, performs "Dissolve, Compose, Release" on 14 January in the Hot Glass Studio, Rochester Institute of Technology, NY at 8pm. The performance will exhibit the collaborative processes of hot glass casting with live music by Eastman composer Jennifer Bellor, and performed with improvisations by members of Amphion Percussion.

UPSTART: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
UpStart is a non-profit arts collective which aims to put creativity at the centre of public consciousness during the Irish General Election Campaign in 2011. This will be done by reinterpreting the spaces commonly used for displaying election campaign posters in Dublin City and are calling on all artists to submit work for this exhibition.
The organisers are asking for submissions to this project from the full range of artistic disciplines. Their aim is to receive 500 submissions from writers and visual artists, photographers, painters and graphic designers. These works will be duplicated and 1000 pieces will be printed as election size posters and be erected throughout Dublin city. They are also accepting works from musicians and film makers which will be hosted and exhibited through our website which will be launched on the day of the electoral poster campaign.
UpStart comprises artists and writers from Ireland and abroad and are non-aligned to any political party. UpStart respects and follows Dublin City Council litter regulations and operates within the requirements of Irish law.
Please note that the deadline for submissions is 5 February.

Aim: To assist two individuals to attend a conference/ event or master class that they would not normally be able to afford. In doing so the individual will gain experience that will encourage the maker to develop their ideas or work into new dimensions.
Eligibility: There are two categories':
1. For established artists who have been working professionally for over four years.
2. For recent graduate within two years of completing a degree, diploma or course. You must have graduated in or after July 2009.
Exclusions: You must be a current member of CGS
Value: Award up to £500 each

WARM GLASS PRIZE 2011: CALL FOR ENTRIES
You can now submit your entry for the Warm Glass Prize 2011. There are three categories for work that includes an element of kiln-formed glass: the Artist's Prize, the Student's Prize and the Bullseye Glass Prize (for work made using Bullseye glass). The Conservation Department, Die Neue Sammlung – The International Design Museum Munich – is pleased to announce FUTURE TALKS 011. Technology and Conservation of Modern Materials in Design to be held at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, Germany. FUTURE TALKS 011 will discuss technology and conservation of modern materials over three days. On the first day the conference will focus on technology, design and production processes of modern materials and their consequences on ageing, degradation and failure of design objects. The following two days will highlight the state-of-the-art of scientific research and focuses on practical treatments in the conservation of design objects made of modern materials. STEVEN'S ARCHITECTURAL GLASS COMPETITION 2011: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
The Steven's Architectural Glass Competition 2011 has been announced. The project for the Stevens Competition 2011 is to design a glass feature for a wall (Approx. 5.4mW x 3.770mH) in the Macmillan Wellbeing and Therapy Room within the new UCLH Cancer Centre, London, based on the theme "The Fabric of Life".
