GLASS BEAD WEEKEND WORKSHOP, E.O.M. STUDIOS
Learn to make glass beads at the E.O.M studios in Mulranny, Co Mayo on a 2-day weekend workshop which will take place from 10am to 4pm on 9 to 11 April 2010. Residential and non-residential places available. Make glass beads with a torch by preparing the mandrels around which the molten glass is wound and shaping the glass for round, tabular, barrel or bi-cone beads, pull stringers (thin rods for decorating) to make dots and lines, which can be manipulated into all kinds of patterns and designs on the surface of your bead.

DESIGN A JUMP FOR THE RDS
The Royal Dublin Society Equestrian Committee and Committee of Arts have come together to launch an open call for submissions for the design of a feature jump for the 2010 Dublin Horse Show. This jump may be featured in the RDS Main Arena during International competitions such as the Nations’ Cup for the Aga Khan trophy, International Grand Prix and various other International competitions. The winning design will also receive a prize of €500 and a feature in the RDS International Programme for the 2010 Dublin Horse Show.
This is a unique opportunity for artists and craft people in Ireland to showcase their designs and skills at one of Ireland’s biggest sporting and cultural events. The feature jump should incorporate some aspect of Irish life, culture, landscape or other related theme.
The deadline for submissions in March, 22, 2010. A full brief with details and requirements is available online:

Sculpture in Context Annual Open Exhibition 2010 will be held at the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin, Dublin 9. The exhibition will run from 2nd September to 15th October 2010. The Botanic Gardens offers a unique and challenging platform for artists to respond to a specific location.
Entry Forms and conditions of entry are now available and can be printed from the website at www.sculptureincontext.com underSculptors’ Information
A site visit is scheduled for Saturday 27th February 2010 at the National Botanic Gardens, Dublin 9. We will meet inside the main gate at 11.00am. If you cannot attend the site visit you can visit the National Botanic Gardens at any time, admission is free.
Proposals [Typed A4] with entry forms and appropriate fee should reach Sculpture in Context, PO Box 10054, Dublin 16, on or before 16th April 2010.
Details of the Sculpture in Context awards will be posted on the website shortly.
